the phoenix new orleans parade bandIf you are looking for the sound of the American south, this is it! From stately parade marches to joyous celebration, the Phoenix performs authentic arrangements from New Orleans. From fetes to festivals, personal celebrations to promotional launches, parades to parties, the band has the style, size and repertoire to suit. Recent work ranges from Lord Mayor’s Parade to weddings. The band’s full line-up is a seven-piece, though augmented versions of this can be formed if required. The line-up consists of trumpet, trombone, alto and tenor saxophones, sousaphone, snare and bass drums. A Grand Marshall is available for full effect. The band were special guests on the “Shining Bright” CD collection of Lal & Mike Waterson songs, plus the Waterson:Carthy album, “Broken Ground”, balancing the English tradition with the sound of the Deep South. They have also performed at Jazz and Folk Festivals, Street Carnivals and corporate events. Their reputation has led to the compliment of being asked to play at the funerals of some of the most respected figures in the folk and jazz scene in Britain - and a funeral scene on Heartbeat”! The Phoenix is an impressive spectacle: highly polished instruments, authentic uniform caps and blue jackets reflect the style of the original New Orleans jazzmen. |
