Martha has been creating a storm within the ‘new-folk’ and festival scene over the last 3 years. She has gained a large word of mouth following in the UK and beyond, leaving audiences touched by her spellbinding voice and lyrics soaked in truth.
Daughter of revered songwriter Steve Tilston, and stepdaughter to folk singer Maggie Boyle, Martha’s childhood was spent around the bright lights of the folk scene, and inevitably musical seeds were sown. Whether Martha plays on her own or accompanied by her talented eclectic band ‘The Woods’ (bazhukis/mandolins/strings/harmonies/latin percussion/fretless bass) - her songs send shivers down the spine.
Martha first emerged on the scene a few years ago with cult acoustic duo ‘Mouse’, which gathered large underground following and put out one album ‘Mouse-Tales’ before going into hibernation.
As a solo artist Martha has toured with such acts as Damien Rice, Fairport Convention, Roddy Frame, Hem, Nick Harper and of course her father Steve Tilston.
